I download shows that are on for free (network TV) that I just miss, or that I purposely miss just because I don't want to watch commercials, or because I am playing a game of Civ4 or doing something else

Network TV is different. Those are the "public airwaves." This is pay cable. Either get HBO, get the DVDs when they come out, or watch the BBC version.

I have never watched a single episode of any of the more popular HBO shows, including the sopranos. Don't get HBO, don't really care.

I really loved how there was little blood or battle scenes and then all of a sudden in this last episode - WHAM - blood everywhere. The 13th builds some good soldiers.

I can see the appeal of Rome though. Its just never gotten to me.

Carnivale? Ugh! It deserved death from what I saw. If people are saying Rome is getting more character depth I may have to check it out again. The episode's I watched earlier were like Fellini meets mockumentary and I was laughing at the contrivance of it all........but mebbe its redeeming itself?

if HBO doesn't want their stuff to be recorded by people, then uploaded to the interwebs and downloaded by people, etc; then they should release it in theaters then and not on television where people can do such things

plus, in millions of years, aliens are going to pick up this stuff floating in space (because the signal leaving the earth at the speed of light, etc) after we are all dead and gone

It sounds like they're saying it's ok because HBO does not offer alternatives that some here have suggested. If I refuse a hijacker a ride in my car, does this mean that he is justified to steal someone's car for transporation?

I would have to say yes, it would be stealing. For example, wouldn't it be illegal for Ford to make exact replicas of Chevrolet models?

but what if someone had advanced technology and could just copy any car and used it for personal use?

Seriously though -- even if you did not sell your copy of a car, it is still stealing, because this undercuts the purpose of the car company in the first place -- TO MAKE A PROFIT.

So, in compensation, the company has to increase the price for honest buyers, such as Imran, myself, and others.
