I used to see the rocket launches very clearly when I was living in Isla Vista. We could also watch the launches as Bush's missile defense system failed their tests or at least we could see the missiles flying through the sky. Boy is that a worthless pork project.

Thanks Dan for this technology was almost a problem for the world, IIRC (WW2)

The V-2 had some rather poor design features that made it never a problem in any real sense. It wasn't going to be a problem, either. That's not to say on the whole it wasn't a quantum leap over its predecessors, however.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

No. The outcome of the war was never going to be impacted to Germany's benefit by the V-2. It was little more than a huge sinkhole for Germany's resources.

Except that thankfully Hitler considered Brits almost as good as Germans, and thus never considered using Sarin. If the Nazis had used aersol dispersion of Sarin, as a response to Dresdin, it could have been a monstrous problem. Nobody had any nerve agents as advanced as the Nazis. Remember, Sarin will kill you with skin contact, so "Gas Masks" are only a delaying factor, not a defense per se.

Well, IV, sure. I was speaking of L.A. (When I lived in Santa Maria, we could tell what type of missile was being lauched by the way the ground shook.)

I don't want to threadjack here, but I think the main reason for not using Sarin or any other gas against the UK was probably Hitler's fear of retaliation with similar methods (if as adavanced or not is another question)....

Actually, the Brits did not have the stockpiles - they had some gas, but no practical provisions for their use in a bombing campaign against the Germans. The US stockpiles had not been transported. The Soviets had huge stockpiles, and while they had no delivery system for use against civilian targets - they did have them for military use, and were possibly the only country with the willingness to sustain "friendly fire" losses due to their military use. However, it is all moot - Hitler would only have used gas against mud people, and the mud people in question had tons to respond with.
