    That's a good deal.

I think competition will start making a difference in the US. Or it might settle into a duopoly. The telephone companies probably are going to be battling with the cable companies. Might be a battle royale, with others picking up some pieces of business too.

I have 3 possible broadband providers: the telephone company (Verizon DSL); the cable company (Comcast); and the cable company (RCN). I buy from RCN.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I have a gigabit synchronous both ways for $0.1 a month. I am the biggest server houser in the world. I have about 100 akamai servers under my hood and they pay me trillions every day. MS is calling at 8 o'clock every morning to see if I got up well and if I am still okay and if anything is missing... usually I request a heli transport to the shopping center or as of lately let them bring all the stuff home, but you can't control the quality when you're not behind it.. so...

ObAnecdote: Shortly after my brother moved this summer, they announced they'll draw 100/100 connections to his old area.

The funny thing it's a somewhat unfashionable area, chiefly populated by immigrants, students, and other misfits. Hardly the easiest place to find people willing to pay for high-end connections.

PH, Only because BT have been dragging their feet on the broadband issue and stymied attempts to allow others to use their networks.

I didn't know that the american problem with boobs went that far back. No wonder they panicked seeing (can't remember her first name) Jacksons breast for a few seconds.

Just looking at other broadband packages - one was 2Mbps with a 3GB/month limit? I mean, why f**king bother having broadband with a download limit like that?

I don't think it's representative of anything in the US. Where did I say that? Rather, the point is that some places in the US do have broadband for a reasonable price and that this is probably due to both competition and population/business density.
