On MSNBC, a reporter stated that a rumor is floating among government officials in Washington DC that Dick Cheney could possibly resign as vice president.

How long will it take for this to turn into fact, or for it to be completely refuted?

Not sure exactly what this rumor is based upon.

There is a lot of rumor being reporteed that Cheney is behind the Plame leak,n though perhaps not alone. Bush himself may be implicated yet.

But this is all rumor at this point.

Yeah -- I'm sure if Cheney actually does resign, they will create some kind of spin like, "Oh, his heart condition really does not permit him to continue on as VP." Or some other bull****.

Plame's not nearly enough to make him resign. His heart could be. Heck, Plame's probably not enough to make Libby or Rove resign, even if the worst is true.
