  • What is abuse.net?

My firewall keeps picking up efforts by my computer to contact: 68.87.64.196 and similar addresses, usually when I connect to poly. This appears to some sort of internet abuse reporting site. I don't "abuse" the internet afaik. Can anyone tell me what this is about and how I can stop my computer from trying to contact this site constantly?

    Thanks

"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed. But they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love. They had 500 years of democracy and peace. And what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

You misread the whois output. It's in the IP range of comcast cable communications.
Open the command window and type "netstat -an" to see all your network connections. Check the port to which you connect to. If it's 6667 or 6666 chances are high that you've got a trojan.

Additionally get a network packet capturer such as ethereal or packetyzer and look at the TCP packets that go there. You can then see what you are transmitting to, there.
