Damnit, I just checked the restore points, and the only ones available are one today and one two days past, when the problem started...

IIRC, you can specify the path of the log file for Hijack This. Try RTFM, darn it.

HijackThis isn't really for the computer novice. It'd be better to start with Spybot Search and Destroy, and AdAware. They should be able to get rid of or at least find most spyware that the anti-virus companies refuse to look for.

Yeah, I ran Ad-Aware already and caught something like 10 files or so. Spybot doesn't work for me for some reason...keeps giving me an error in German every time...*shrug*

Hang on, why is no one asking the obvious question...

How the hell did you mistake a Daemon Tools for a game?

The most I can figure out is that you may have thought Daemon Tools was satanic porn

It's an excuse because things I buy aren't really "readable" per se...nor are they "labeled correctly" either on the case or the files themselves.

Try Spyware Doctor as well. Adaware and spybot haven't been updated in ages.

                          "labeled correctly"

This is a problem in the labs too. I feel your pain.

Wait...I dled Spyware Doctor, scanned my computer, so it's telling me I have to purchase the software to remove it? bah...

I manually removed some of the files, but how do I get at the registry items?

                                Regedit

Not something to be done by a novice either, though ...

I also wouldn't be shocked to find 20m of HD space variability from day to day, either. You have a page file, which is typically of a size near to your total RAM (probably 250MB or so, at least) ... and it's not full all the time, so its size varies.

I'd not worry unless you have a consistent drop ...
