  • Zombie apocalypse...how likely is it?

My friends and I were watching Dawn of The Dead last night. We began discussing how remote the possibility of the dead coming back to life and eating the living.

However we DID discuss the possibility of a 28 Days later esqe Virus being engineered. This is a plausible scenario. Considering we have disease the cause people to go crazy like that already (Rabies, Mad Cow). A bit of human tampering by a top secret lab and boom, bites spread an aggressive disease which renders its victims delusional and hungry to spread the virus, to others, by biting them.

Possible? Or did we smoke too much weed?

    I don't think it can't happen.

I do occasionally get concerned about zombie attacks

that is why I think I want a shotgun isntead of a pistol, the shotgun requires a lot less aiming to take care of the undead...

I mean, with the handgun I would have to get use to aiming for the head or something

of course, perhaps the perfect option would be to ge tone of each

You may be a Scientican, but you're no scientist

Perhaps you should be telling us whether it is possible, zombieboy

Zombies as in real zombies described in several documentaries - no. Though, a virus that destroyed the consious part of the brain and set the caveman part on perpetual alert could probably be made.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Any weed is too much weed. Just say no.

Rabid animals bite because they're hyper-irritable and because parts of the limbic that mediate rage and aggression have become disinhibited. Animals naturally bite when they're enraged. Humans are a bit different. While it's possible for a delerious human to start biting people it's not that common.

Unless there are some differences between their membranes this seems highly unlikely. I reckon a neuron looks exactly like any other neuron.

So what you're saying is, that because you don't know anymore about the subject, you're claiming that it is highly unlikely?

I think UR is saying that viruses can't tell the difference between "smart person brain cell" and "caveman brain cell". Barring there being a meaningful difference - which is indeed highly unlikely - said virus is impossible.
