With all the money KSA has invested in the US, why the hell would the US put any financial sanctions on them? honestly, a lot of those hundreds of billions the House of Saud has made form oil are tied up in US bonds and equities.

Here's the deal -- I know, because we're about to face the same thing in the Philippines.

Congress has mandated that any Tier 3 trafficking country -- the worst violators -- be unable to receive US aid. It's a well-intentioned law, but it treats all aid as equal -- including military assistance. The problem is, we have all sorts of small military operations going on all over the world right now as part of the war on terror; not surprisingly, given where terrorism flourishes, a lot of these operations are taking place in countries that also have huge trafficking problems.

So now the government is stuck; take the trafficking law seriously, and they can't fight the war on terror the way they'd like. Or fight the war on terror as planned, and ignore the trafficking law. Rock and a hard place.

Of course, given that the same party controls both the Congress and the Presidency, you'd think they could come up with a more elegant solution that this. But I guess you'd be wrong...

There is no excuse for human slavery. NONE! The Saudis have done damn little to help us defend against Islamic terrorists and continue to fund Islamic extremism around the worl with their tax dollars. We are getting next to nothing out of this other then oil which the saudis would be forced to sell anyway. They literally have nothing else to sell so they would be forced to sell their oil due to their national debt no matter what we did.
