Orioles last won a WS in 1983, way more recent than the ChiSox or Cubbies have won .
The dismal Tigers beat out all three with their '84 WS win.

even tho the CFL sucks, Montreal has won the grey cup quite recently, and before this year, was heads and shoulders better than every other team in the regular season.

Oh, and the Expos were the "Best Team in Baseball" in 1994. Screw the Braves, they didn't win the division that year.

Actually he was saying the TEAM itself was an exception... one team with a tradition of winning championships while the rest can't win jack...

            He was correct.

In contrast, the Montreal Alouettes won the Grey Cup in 2002... in a sport which is probably far more popular in Canada (especially Quebec) than baseball!

Montreal likes a winner (with the exception of hockey, where we will sell out no matter what).

In the early 90's, the Expos were having record numbers for attendance. After the 94 strike, we still had decent numbers, but the Claude Brochu firesales made the team really unpopular, as it seemed the ownership didnt care about winning.

The Alouettes have, untill this season, been performing fantastically. The city likes a winner, so Molson Stadium is selling out.

Oh, and the Montreal Impact are selling beyond capacity every game now. They won the championship last year and almost went without a loss all season this year. The owners are building a new stadium to accomodate the skyrocketing attendance figures.

But only one Superbowl and while that was in 1986 (85 season), the Bears hadn't won the NFL Championship before that since... 1963 .

Who cares? The Braves, even though they suck, have won in 1995... and the Atlanta Hawks won a championship in 1958, which is more recent than any of the Chi-town baseball teams . Georgia Tech won a National Championship in Football in 1990.

And the Mets have won in '86. The Giants in '91. The Devils in 2003 (Rangers in '94 and the Isles in '84). The Knicks have lagged a bit with a championship only in 1973 (though the Nets won an ABA Championship in 1976). And the Yankees... well they ruled the end of the 90s. The Jets are the slackers with a last title in 1969.

... oh, and in the case of Atlanta, no one gives a damn about professional sports anyway, so it doesn't really matter if say, a team choaks in the playoffs 13 out of 14 years or such

So when a team moves, the new city can claim the old championships?

Well, at least the White Sox's avoided a giant collapse, given how many games ahead they were just a month ago.

This last fenway series will be insane....Damn it, third year in a row of Yankee's-Red Sox's insanity.

                                I'm a little confused.

                                Chicago is 96-63.
                                Cleveland, 93-66.

The two teams end the season with a three-game series in Cleveland. If Cleveland sweeps, won't they both be 96-66, leading to a one-game playoff?
