  • Bureaucratism and the Decline of Democracy

Tragedies like these hurricanes expose an ugly side of democracy - as government assumes more and more power divided up by armies of bureaucrats and the politicians who create them, it assumes more and more responsibility. And when it can no longer keep pace with the growing responsibility, incompetency rules the day. So what happens? Bureaucrats are blamed, not the politicians who created them. This insulates the people we can vote for from the incompetency they perpetrate upon us thru their bureaucracy.

People try to blame politicians like Bush and we get "this isnt the time to play the blame game"...
meet the new boss, same as the old boss

Nah, politics is too partisan. Bureaucrats are easy targets, thats why whistleblowers run such a risk when exposing corruption and incompetence. They'll get attacked by whatever political machine is made to look bad...or worse... and it will be forgotten as just another partisan bureaucrat angry at the politicos.
