    Oh and also for the record, according to Sava's website the Mormon church as whole had nothing to do with the massacre, Brigham Young sent orders to let them through.

    They did, however, participate in the coverup.

      Part of it was that a lot of the pioneers were from Missouri and Illinois where Joseph Smith and many other Mormons were murdered. One of the poeple from Missouri even claimed to be carrying the pistol that was used to kill joseph Smith.

        They did, however, participate in the coverup.
        A book is being written by three leaders in the Mormon church that will be published sometime next year (this is off the Wikipedia article about the Massacre), using archives previously not revealed by the Church...they claim that nothing is being hidden, every document is being looked over, it will be a full investigation of all parts to the tragedy.

        The Mormon church maintains a memorial at the site of the massacre, and I think after 150 years they can openly say everything...it will probably be an interesting book to read when it is published.

          Like I said earlier, part of it was that Mormon missionaries ran around marrying peoples' wives.
