To keep the rhythm Fab has to pick a forward.

hehe, well, I might break the rhythm, depending who is available and when, I most likely will be taking a forward... but you never know... IT ALL DEPENDS!!!

Yeah well the 10-12 spots can afford to pick differently because they will get their 2nd rounds pick fairly soon.

Yep, Yep. Quick turnaround allows you to take a forward and get the goalie you want, because your 2nd round pick will come soon.

While Marty was goalie at Michigan, during my undergraduate years, his record with the lead going into the third period was something on the order of 103-0-2. Unreal.

That's what I consider to be a "stupid" stat in sports.

There are always dumb sports statistics that I see.

Like... ZOMFG WHEN MARIO LEMIEUX SCORE 8 GOALS THE PENGUINS ARE UNDEFEATED!!!!

WHEN WALTER PAYTON RUNS FOR 300 YARDS TEH BARES ARE 110-0

WEHN BABE RUTH HITS 10 HOME RUNS TEH YANKEES WIN

well yes, when you have a good goalie and you lead going into the third period, chance are, you will have a good record

I got an awesome sports stat. When one team scores more points than the other team, they are undefeated!

True, having a good record isn't that surprising.

But never losing a single game in the third period, in 105 chances? That is remarkable.

Um... Sava... that's not something I'd consider a stupid stat. Being undefeated in 105 games where you have the lead going into the 3rd period is a pretty significant stat. It means you have to get the team earlier, because you won't come back on them.

It depends how big a lead, too. If most of those leads were by more than 3 goals, I'm not going to be too impressed.

Unless you think ALL of the leads were by 3 or more goals, then it's irrelvant, because there are bound to be a number of leads of only 1 goal and they never scored.

well without an individual breakdown, it's a meaningless and stupid stat

No, it actually isn't. It's quite impressive.

Even if ALL the leads were by 3 goals, that would indicate that you have to score early, or else you'll never win.

Imran... that stat by itself is meaningless...

it needs to be compared with other stats, like say, his 3 period save percentage and goals against average...

I guess it's people like you that come up with stupid stats, eh?

It seems impressive, and it probably is, but you can't tell unless you have something to compare with.

In general, and especially in recent years, hockey is a sport where it is difficult to come back in the last frame - as compared to something like basketball.

I suspect we would find similarly impressive stats for most decent NHL goalies, especially those with defensive teams.
