What about Asia? China and Japan have some incredibly impressive forts, to say nothing of India.

I guess they do but it would go way offtopic. But, right, what the hell, let's go. Castles from everywhere

Nice too and in a great location!

Also let's put some minimum requests for each picture posted especially since we're going to have such a large scope. It would be good if it had a) The country and preferably the province/city it is located in. b) if it isnt too much trouble the date it was completed. all other info that one would want to post about it would be nice too!

BTW I find the picture of the Bodiam Castle to be fascinating!

Looks like there was vaseline on the lens for that one, soft porn style, but knowing the location, the mist is real!

If a mod with time on their hands is about, then can we have the thread title changed to World Tour of Castles please? We can pretend we're the Rolling Stones or something.

Molly that Bodiam place looks like the one in Monthy Python and the Holy Grail at the end.

The Holy Grail castles were all in Scotland...

Talking of which Edinburgh (visited), Stirling (seen from outside) and Eilean Donan (not been to) are

Bodiam is in Kent and indeed a great little ruin with a beautiful setting.

As for Leeds, I really found it to be quite a tourist trap - very nice but one of those places that has to have added attractions like a maze and aviary etc as a sort of value added way of justifying gouging you for huge amounts on stuff that has nothing to do with the castle in the 1st place...

Reminds me of the way Warwick castle is run by Madame Tussaud's...

                              Now Corfe OTOH is

Just a ruin but a very beautiful one!

And Iolani Palace (only palace on US soil) and headquarters of Hawaii-Five-O.... So when is the US going to hand Hawai'i back to the islanders, considering the way they took the country in the 1st place?

Hearst Castle: Well, a huge mansion really - but ****ing awesome!

The Alamo: quite cool, but the myths and bull**** surrounding the Alamo are on a par to the USS Constitution...
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?
