  • fyromian Independence Day

it's fourteen 14 years to the day that the that macedonian people voted for independence from yugoslavia

At the referendum on September 8, 1991, over 95 percent of the citizens (who participated in the referendum) voted for independent and sovereign state.

The first Macedonian multiparty Parliament formally confirmed the referendum results.

November 17, 1992 was marked with the adoption of the Constitution of independent and sovereign Macedonia, which was recompensed after the signing of the Framework Agreement that ended the 2001 crisis in the country.

The International legal status of the country was verified on April 8 1993, when Macedonia was accepted as 181 member of the United Nations.

i hope the good people of apolyton will join me in marking this fine day, and celebrate the independence of the land of alexander the great and the birthplace of slavonic literacy and literature, the glorious state of MACEDONIA

There's a province in Belgium called Luxembourg. You don't hear much about Belgians complaining about how the Luxembourgers in the country of Luxembourg are "stealing their history" etc. On the countrary, the two countries have excellent relations and were among the founding members of the European Coal and Steel Community which later became the European Union.
The Belgians are obviously a very tolerant and rational people

how many times, must it be said that it's just a name?

was one of the first articles of luxemburg's constitution the proclamation that the slaved brothers and sisters living in belgium should be freed?

were there large groups of luxemburgians (?) asking for the returning of the ensalved territories?

did luxemburgians make any claims regarding the history and symbols of belgium?

Founded in 963, Luxembourg became a grand duchy in 1815 and an independent state under the Netherlands. It lost more than half of its territory to Belgium in 1839, but gained a larger measure of autonomy. Full independence was attained in 1867.
so apparently Belgium and Luxemburg had some issues, it just happens that they solved them 170 years ago. given that they didnt loose 4 centuries under Ottoman rule to be able to end their issues, the difference is understable.

i can safely guess that within much much less than 170 years we'll have the same relations with fyrom
