Kenneth Carlsen, 32, currently ranked 53rd in the world, and consistently in the top 100 for at least the past decade, was eliminated yesterday from the 1st round of the U.S. Open.

So? Hey, big deal eh?

Well, he thereby immortalized himself in the annals of world tennis. No other player in history has had as many 1st round Grand Slam eliminations as Carlsen.

28 of them.

Of course, he has on occasion advanced further, but his lasting impression will be that of the least succesful top tennis player of all time.

Thought I'd share this latest example of the outstanding ability of Danish athletes.
