  • The levies should not be plugged.

New Orleans is under water as nature intended. If they plug the levies and pump it out it will just continue to sink and the problem will be worse next time. New Orleans should be rebuilt elsewhere on higher ground, it will be cheaper in the long run.

This is my idea. I demand royalties on my idea!.

I also had the idea of turning New Orleans into New Venice. Use boats to get from place to place.

why not build the city on higher ground on the SAME site? IE build up the ground level, a la Simcity? as weve discussed elsewhere, you need a port where Missippi hits the sea, and there probably isnt a better site thats got the same transportation charecteristics. Can you run full sized ocean going vessels upto Baton Rouge, for ex?

I think they should just build a 30-meter-tall concrete wall around the city

                      Newer Orleans?

They should bulldoze a mountain and fill the hole with rocks and course gravel before building anything on it. Might take a while, but is probably cheaper than for example some foreign adventures the US spent money on in the recent past.

If you use a former to raise land you'll divert the Mississippi. Your better bet is to build a pressure dome instead.
