I just watched a film, I guess you could call it alternative choice.. but I'm glad I did, because it was one of the better ones. At least it was weird as hell! 
It was a Finnish film called Joulubileet, Christmas Party.
Basically the premise is, that few guys are throwing a christmas party to their friend and brother, who is released from prison. A nice idea, however, there's LOTS of crap to be sorted, like the brother of the prisoner marrying his gf during his sentence for one..and relatives never going visiting him.. oh yeah.. and it's summer. Well he did miss the christmas parties so why not giving one when ever the first possible date?
It's a comedy, but a very dark one. You don't first even know it is a comedy. It's that dark. Yet it becomes obvious, unless of course the viewer is stupid. There's no easy jokes and punch lines thrown.
It's actually very pressuring atmosphere all the time, but funny as hell. They are at each others throat all the time, circling the christmas table, for reasons changing every 5 minutes. Ganging up on one at a time. 'Now we're going to kick your ass!' x 10. Then something always happens, like door bell rings, and it's forgotten, but only so it can start again.
The language used is very hard, lots of swearing and the kind that is kind of serious, not meaningless.
Throw in the mix their neighbour who spies on them 24/7. Then there's Santa of course, who almost gets shot coming into the building by the spy neighbour dressed as a Scottish soldier (I guess).
It comes to light, that the Santa is actually the one who sold the prisoner the shotgun and the car, and they were both crap and that was a reason to nearly kill Santa. But Santa man had also served in prison and became religious. So they kind of leave him alone, for a while. They even steal a pig, for food. They are unable to kill the pig, so they just put the pig in the oven. They figure the food will be ready in 5 hours anyway. But Santa lets the pig out eventually. At one point the pig eats their christmas food, poos on the table, while the guys are wrestling naked.
This is just how it starts. It gets crazier all the time and the momentum builds up and builds up. Trust me, this is the minimum of weirdness, it gets a whole lot weirder and funnier as it goes on

Oh and in the end.. it turns out they were all in the gig, robbing the bank and the one got caught, thus served... and now.. it turns out during the escape, the one who held the money actually had spent them boozing for these years and there's no money left at all. What a wonderful welcoming party.
So if you get a chance to see this.. go ahead. BUT don't expect any.. normal type of a movie. It's dark.. and foreign to you people, so it's double weird for you.. but it was one of the best flicks I've seen in a LONG time.
