I personally don;t give a **** about the founders, meaning I have no problems with a large permanent military. One would ask a bit more intellectual consistency from certain parties though.
My point being that when you have such a large military you invariably get some people that want to use it.
Though, I'm not advocating getting rid of that, just a bit more oversight (Congress stop being a rubber stamp).

I have stated what I think about the draft in this situation, and I feel it's not an option.
I might even feel it never should become an option. I did support the action and I still do (except not the way it's now done, too few troops).
That said, I would not think draft would be an option now, since I'm not sure about the legimitacy of this war. Yeah that's right. I'm not saying if it was morally right or wrong, but in the eyes of international laws, I'm just not convinced this is legit action. So that makes me be even more careful about the draft. I do not think it's a valid option. I don't think it's a good idea to .. send lots of people there who didn't volunteer/choose their path this way. I do understand the dilemma of people getting killed, ordered there by the state, and many would have moral and ethical problems and still forced to fight there, and what I'm concerned about that they're not necessarily wrong at all, not even in front of the law.
SO, draft is no option if you ask me.

Oh, I fully agree. I don;t for a second buy the notion that the President's power as commander in Chief allows him to start a war with the simples and most pathetic of congressional approvals.
Given that the US was not fulfilling any treaty obligations by going to war as it did, that full Congressional approval for war (Ie. Congress declaring war) should have been done.
I am sick of the imperial presidency and I think Congress has become a house filled with cowards.
The Congress is the most important branch of government, and they are slowly giving away their powers to an office not even elected by the people.
