    ... that the output from my sound card is input to my microphone?

            Are you trying to make some sort of feedback loop?

              depending on your soundcard, you can sometimes add your line out as a source in your record options in the windows sound mixer

                        Dare I ask what 'mmf' talk is? I guess I probably shouldn't.

                        Anyway relax there probably is another term but this is basically just a sort of pass through wire that allows both ends to be plugged into two different sockets connecting two outlets that would normally not be directly connected.
