  • Why does this town suck so bad?

In the last neighbourhood I was living there was a botched burglary turned murder 40 feet from my doorstep. Then there was another murder 2 blocks from my house (both victims were Hopkins undergrads)

Then two days before I moved there was a murder (would have been a double but they managed to save one of the victims) on the street 2 blocks from my new house on a Thursday night at 10 pm (which means that the street was full of people, given the preponderance of bars around here)

Tonight I looked outside and saw 3 police cars at a house across the street from mine dusting for fingerprints etc. in what appeared to be a burglary investigation

      Yeah. My favourite TV show.

Actually, I'm now living 3 blocks from the building they used as the police HQ...

Baltimore can be kind of rough. It's those drive through liquor stores Maryland has .

My relatives live in a farm south of Baltimore. It's along the patuxant river. Crime is almost non existant out in the middle of no where. For the longest time they never locked their doors. But recently they've had problems with homeless entering homes, so they do lock their doors now I believe.

the area where my relatives live is a nice area. I've been there many times. I like that part of maryland. But other parts of maryland have their issues...

We don't have drive thoughs, and liquor stores can't open on Sundays. Also, grocery stores can't sell beer or wine.

Inner Harbour is a stupid tourist trap with chain restaurants.

Fells Point (where I live) and Canton (next to me) are both very nice neighbourhoods.

The problem is that they're surrounded by ghettoes, as is every other nice neighbourhood in the city.

                          I can't see a red oval

is that because I am colorblind?

one of the 5 (6?) liquor stores that are ~1 mile from my house (the farthest one, I think) is a drive through liquor store

ah, Fells Point. Ah, Aliceanna Street.

Used to live in Tindeco - back when American Can was still an empty hulk, and there were still empty lots on the Canton waterfront.

We went up for Artscape a few weeks ago, and took a stroll around Bolton Hill.

                            What a sweet city.

                              best part of Baltimore

the "chain" block of John Street, in Bolton Hill.

The park blocks on Park Avenue, also in BH.

Hopkins Homewood Campus, some blocks in Charles Village.

                              Roland Park.

                              Mount Washington.

                              Read Street in Mount Vernon.

The markets, esp Broadway market, and the one in South Baltimore.

The view from Federal Hill park.

                              Patterson Park, the pagoda.

Morning Edition, in Butchers Hill, if its still there.

                              Thames street in Fells Point.
