The severence package was agreed to as part of the hiring contract. If I was going to be work for Eisner, I'd want guarentees too. The amount was not determined on when he was fired. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

omg, you're right, if we don't pay ceo's hundreds of millions of dollars, nobody would want that job
For all the work that CEO's do? Hell no, I wouldn't want it without all the money.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Probably because there are other jobs that pay that amount that have less work involved .“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

IIRC, the Costco CEO makes only a few hundred thousand a year."Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before. He is full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant without having come by their ignorance the hard way. "

Oh? I'm sure that list is very, very few. Not 'many'. The old fallacy that CEOs don't do any work (skewered by "The Simpsons" in that great episode where Homer becomes CEO of the Nuke Plant). However, while I do sympathize with the guy that works 3 jobs, he also isn't responsible for thousands or millions of jobs and doesn't need anywhere near the training or skills that a CEO would need.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

On the other hand...
I personally know quite a few CEOs, and I know that I work just as many hours as many of them for a fraction of the pay. I also have equivalent training and experience and in some cases, I have a better track record of managing companies, projects, and employees.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”
