If Marijuana was a harmless drug, there wouldn't be anything wrong with this.

No drug is harmless, thats why they're called drugs. Even aspirin can gradually eat away the stomach lining in some people leading to ulcers.

Way too much, I'd have her attend a parenting class and not jail her. What she did was stupid but it aint like the kid is going to suffer from a one time experience. This aint like a mother boozing it up during a pregnancy resulting in fetal alcohol syndrome. Mothers who smoke tobacco do much more damage than this mother...

As far as I can tell back in the good old days, before the discovery that certain drugs could help hyperactive kids, children who wouldn't sit still and learn in class were either subjected to sufficient quantities of corporal punishment to make them comply with classroom rules or failing that were labelled as mentally retarded and sent home permanently. Deprived of education and socil contacts with other kids they fell further behind in development until the label placed upon them became a self-fulfilling prophecy.

It is kind of hard to give your kids love and attention when both parents have to work all day to live, and teachers and schools are too thickheaded to adapt thier curricula to kids with ADHD (no, insted we are made to check in every morning in the special ed. room where the people treat us like we are retarded. )

well, it's hardly new. Governmental and social acceptance of drugs is in direct connection to their socio-economic utility. The mind-altering substances that are allowed are usually those that are important to keep the social order.

it just seems strange to me. How were these hyper children dealt with in the 40's?

Something is wrong with kids today. I'm not sure what it is. It's either lack of exercise or perhaps the quick editing of today's cartoons and tv shows ****s with their brain somehow.
