No, he's just sensible. Once had to use an iMac and that was a real PIA. First of all couldn't find out how you can install programs and most of all couldn't find all system settings. Not to mention the mouse and keyboard were crap. Yeah, Macs rule... Go firgure...

I'm sure they can be perfectly nice and fine computers, but they're not comfortable for PC users, much like it's vice versa.

      However getting off-topic.

Unfortunately at this time I don't have time to build a pc, and I needed a new one asap. Got the dual core because my wife does pretty intense stats work at home (while working on her dissertation) and I think this will do nicely for it. And it was reasonably priced from, don't laugh, Dell, from whom I already had a line of credit available. All those factors add up to a purchase. If I were a hard core gamer, I would have gone elsewhere, but frankly the only thing I'll be playing probably over the next year is CIV and maybe something from paradox.

You don't have the requirements that he has, and have made no effort to find them out, so how can you know what's good for him?

Primarily, I use the computer for video decoding and deinterlacing, not games. And this is an area where the Intel architecture is more than competitive with AMD.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

                Where's your AMD X2 4800 with 2x Geforce 7800's in SLI?

Me no like until I see Doom 3 running at 80 FPS at 1600x1200 with full AA and AF
