  • how do you fall asleep at night?

    This seems simple, but I struggle at it. I don't have insomnia, as once I fall asleep, I can stay asleep and sleep for 7 or 8 hours, no problem.

    The trouble is actually falling asleep. What do you think about. What do you do? Yes I know about spanking the monkey. I don't need advice on that. It seems to help, but sometimes I'm not in the mood. I usually think about having sex with girls, that usually puts me to sleep. If I think about the day's events, or if I think about the current game of civ3 I'm in, I'll never fall asleep. But sometimes I can't not think of the day's events. This is where I run into trouble falling asleep.

    I quit caffeine a couple years ago. This has helped for a while. But lately I'm having trouble falling asleep again.

          nothing really. my life is not bad in any way. It's not good in any way either. But I kind of like it that way. I find I prefer a stable life over the ups and downs of certain activities.

          I am worried that my anxiety is getting worse. But then I worry about my worrying . It's a never ending cycle.

            I think about a constant stream of random things.

            The sheep likes Volkswagens, but Volkswagens are made in Mexico but pretend to be German, just like that guy at Wendy's. But Wendy's isn't a German retaurant really, it's more of an American one, old fashioned. Olde fashioned maybe. Perhaps Dave Thomas was a genius, didn't he only have a middle school education in mechatronics, building huge robots to assault the earth and eat strawberries?

            It seems to help.

                    Ok, I have a whopping 3 hours of sleep before me. Then I go to uni and do a very important presentation. You guessed it, I haven't slept all night!

                        Or do counting games in your head. Count things starting with ice, or summer, even girl, as long as you keep your hands above the sheets.

                          Dunno why, normally I would find stuff like that interesting, but reading that made me sleepy and bored to read it; it's like it was never going to stop.

                            There was a method my therapist suggested for me when i was diagnosed insomniac It a form of self hypnosis.
                            I have to start by hae the room dark and cool, I then close my eyes and think of a safe gentle palce and try to place myself there. I then give my self a count of 20 thinking of this place and count backwords till i find my self asleep. I also find that it helps while counting telling your self that slowly you are getting more sleepy as the numbers decrease.

                              Have the room dark and cool...

                              No lights, no computer monitor, no noises (a fan is permissible if it helps make things cooler.)

                              Sleep naked. Seriously. I started and it's the best thing I have done for my sleep

                              Just lay down, and sit. Have a good pillow and don't think about anything if you can.

                              If it's cooler outside than it is inside, open a window and let the fresh air in (make sure there's a screen on the window you don't want creatures jumping in while you're naked and asleep.)

                              Other than what I've already said, try to minimize the noise. I don't know what specific type of spot you live in in Las Vegas so opening your window may permit too much noise to get to you...repetitive nighttime things like crickets aren't bad noise, though.

                              If this isn't enough, then before you sleep:

                              * jack off (clears your mind of everything that you're worried about, can make a good end routine for the day, spends a little extra energy)
                              * read a joke book that you've already read at least once (clears your mind, puts you to sleep in a good spirit, you can remember the jokes better for retellage to chicks if you sleep right after you read them.)

                              As a habit: Go to bed earlier and wake up later (ie get more sleep), and sleep in the nighttime. Once you're used to a regular sleeping hours then you'll be able to sleep easierly.
