  • Help me with my mouse (the computer variety)

So I was playing Sims 2 when my computer crashed (right when I was changing the landscape). When my computer came on, the mouse wouldn't work.

I tried unplugging and replugging - nothing.
I tried resetting my computer - nothing.
I tried many things in the Control Panel - no dice.
I tried to locate hardware - didn't help.

    HELP ME!

Does the computer know the mouse exists?

Sometimes this happens to me too. What it works for me is:

        1. turn off PC
        2.unplug mouse
        3. Turn on PC, let it load.
        4. Turn off PC (normally, not with the button)
        5. Plug mouse
        6. Turn on PC

Thank you, kind sir. I have no idea why that worked, but it worked.

Since Fab's problem is solved to his utter delight, may I make a little threadjack.

I have three pc's sharing keyboard, screen and mouse via a switchbox, and it works fine with my std MS mouse, but my cordless ditto will not work properly. Actually, moving it acts like a lot of right and left clicking, witch, if not carefull, may really mess the pc up.

Have the latest driver for the thingie - actually, it was installing that that messed things up - before that it worked fine.

Edit : forgot to say that I have tried the no mouse boot without any luck - it seems that the switchbox messes signalling up.

                Try removing the driver, then.
