  • U.S. issues travel warning to Mexico

And all of this because of the U.S. war on drugs. So many people are dying because of this.

Is it really that bad? What about Tijuana?

edit: I meant war on drugs, not war on terror.

How so? Looks more due to the fact Mexico is a hellhole.

U.S. issues travel warnings to lots of places, many of them safer than most U.S. cities.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

I don't think that applies at all in this case, save for Detroit.

Really, where is Mexico thinking about going?

err, I meant war on drugs.

I'm beginning to wonder if the violence in the movie Desperado is that farfetched after all.

Bah! Mexico has been steadily decreasing crime levels in the last five years. In Mexico City (by far the most dangerous city there), crime has been reduced by 50% since 2000, and those crimes involving foreigners have been reduced to acounting for only .02% of total crime.

But since I'm actually going to Mexico in about 2 weeks, this sorts of warning always worry me. I'll be crossing the border at Brownsville, TX, however, which is pretty far from Laredo, TX/Nuevo Laredo, MX. I'm sure everything will be fine, but since I'll be with my girlfriend this time, I hope everything is.

Mexico is beautiful, the people are friendly, the prices are good (or were before the dollar fell), the food is wonderful, etc.
