The only thing that study proved was that companies that pay low salaries have their employees take more advantage of public resources... the same wage paid (and higher in some cases) than most fast food chains and ANY company paying minimum wage. To single out Walmart is just a classic example of bad research. And again, they had no REAL facts that prove Walmart is any worse than those paying similar wage... and again, those who only pay minimal wage would be even worse.

But at least it's showing my point: That Wal Mart and its ilk, by paying low wages and by providing paltry benefits, are exporting their costs of their operations to the general public. We taxpayers are the ones picking up the tab for Wal Mart employees' health care and food stamps.

The only thing keeping in this hellish job is the fact no job with the hours I need pays as much.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

        • Hey guys! Just went to Wal Mart.

          three shirts, $5: El Salvador
shower gel, $3: Canada of US components
          pens, $1: Mexico

So much for CHINA CHINA CHINA...the only Chinese things I could find were things no one ever wants to buy, like cheap unfun toys, sucky party favors, or kitchen things...

Either way, without Wal Mart, lord knows how much it would have cost...there's not a Target around here so I can't compare shop. I think the outcome wouldve been ugly

Yeah. A lot of American manufacturers are moving to Canada because providing health benefits to the employees is so much cheaper there.

                  • You know, I have been hearing of more people moving to Southeast Asia or other tropical places where it's cheaper to live, as well as immigrants who return home after making money here.

At my school, UC Berkeley, the school actively encourages students to study abroad for a year or more, earning UC credit, but costing taxpayers nothing. Often it's cheaper for the student as well once living expenses are factored in.

I never forget. I enjoy our social programs very much even though I have scarcely had to take advantage of them yet

                              • Everyone benefits from social programs, not just the direct recipients. A stronger workforce, less crime, these are just some of the advantages.

Unfortunately the US is more interested in morality as opposed to reality.
