I forgot this too. A must for people who obsessively catalogue their books, CDs and DVDs.

That's pretty amazing that they can read the barcode from the webcam. I wonder how consistent the results are, how extensive the library is, etc.

Question from one of those annoying utilitarian PC users: What is the point of having an index of the DVDs/books on your computer?

It's not like you can immediately access these items once you scan it in...

What's the point of having a desktop wallpaper? It's just another way for people to a.) spend their time, b.) waste their money or c.) do both at the same time.

Desktop wallpaper looks nice, it's a decoration.

Scanning barcodes is not a decoration.

Checking out that website more, it has some neat features, but overall I could never fathom why I would do that, save out of sheer boredom. It says you can use the program to help you keep track of what movies/CDs/books you've loaned out to friends by dragging the item onto contacts in the Address Book, with the program telling you its due date. Sounds interesting, but definitely not worth my time. The way it's linked to Amazon, etc to provide info on the product and also related items is another cool feature that is already present in, for example, WMP as soon as you've updated the media info.

But seeing all your DVDs, books, CDs, etc like the program does is decoration. Granted, IMO not worth the effort really.

And I'm still fairly amazed that they've got webcams that can read the barcode with (I'm assuming) ease.

Some people like obsessively cataloging their stuff. I had a massive CD catalogue that I'd mark when I lent something out.

I don't know what this is to be used for , but I have a question for Mrs. Tuberski - does this iBook have a compiler + related utilities included by default ? ( Doesn't matter which one , it should be usable ) .
