The fact is that we don't know how much the Yuan is undervalued. The market isn't setting the exchange rate, so we just don't know.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

The reason why China moved to a flexible exchange rate was the recent economic growth numbers. After a year of trying to put the brakes on the economy, it still grew by 9.8% which was way too high.Golfing since 67

There's a man going around taking names and he decides who to free and who to blame.. everybody won't be treated the same.. there will be a golden ladder reaching down, when the man comes around..
Johnny Cash introduced the Yuan basher that is me. The man.
Hit it Johnny!
Johnny: The hairs on your arm will stand up at the terror in each sip and each sup will you partake of that last offered cup..Or disappear into the potter's ground.. When Pekka comes around..
Pekka: That's right Johnny! You know it! *wink*
Johnny: *wink*
Johnny: Hear the trumpets hear the pipers one hundred million angels singing
Multitudes are marching to a big kettledrum
Voices calling and voices crying
Some are born and some are dying
Its alpha and omegas kingdom come
And the whirlwind is in the thorn trees
The virgins are all trimming their wicks
The whirlwind is in the thorn trees
It's hard for thee to kick against the ******
Till Armageddon no shalam no shalom
Pekka: that's right..
Johnny: Then the father hen will call his chicken's home
The wise man will bow down before the thorn and at his feet
They will cast the golden crowns
When Pekka comes around..
You're the man Pekka..
Pekka: You're the man too, Johnny.
DOWN WITH THE YUAN!!!In da butt.

I certainly hope this will help to free America from its unhealthy addiction to Chinese products.

Yet I recently read few weeks ago few countries including Germany is considering dropping euro and going back to national currencies.
EDIT: Ah never mind. I thought to myself I better recheck this so did some searching and turns out it's just some trolling by an Italian political party.Last edited by Barinthus; July 22, 2005, 11:29.

It used to cost 8.28 rmb to buy a US dollar. Now it only costs 8.11 rmb.
So if I have 8,280 rmb, then it was worth US$1,000. Now it's worth US$1,021
The exchange rate went down relative to the RMB, which means the RMB has gone up in value.Golfing since 67
