  • Which nations of the EU have legalised marijuana ?

I'd like to know ( as is amply clear from the title ) which countries of the EU have legalised marijuana . I'd also like documents ( online ) , if any , to prove that Marijuana is legal in those countries . Personal anectodes are also OK with me .

none...the only counrty where you can smoke marijuana whitout being caught is the netherlands because the police have had orders from the government to led it let is slide...its 'gedoogd' which means buying and using for personel use is ok...there are thinking about legalizing and in spain there is now also a big legalizing movement

Those are the only EU states I know of..

You can get away with it in Amsterdam (or hell, I guess the Hague and Rotterdam too) but it's not technically legal.

In the US, it is definitely against the law, and if you get caught (although it depends on the police officer and which part of the country you're in) even merely in possession, you will probably get roasted.

(But the US isn't exactly in the EU. )

EDIT: Oh, and no matter where you go, I think the laws of your homeland still apply unless you renounce citizenship and become naturalized in another country.

trust me you can get away with it everywhere in the netherlands from the smallest town to amsterdam...it is not only amsterdam...why do people always think that...i lived in a 60000 'city' we had 3 coffeeshops (where you buy weed) 2 camps (illegal buy places) and then i had a couple of friends that had a plant (that is legal btw every dutch citizen can have 3 plants i think without being busted

I don't think any country has legalised marijuana, but it has become tolerated (no punishment incurred from consuming or dealing it) in several countries: Netherlands and Spain I'm sure of. I think Switzerland did too, but i'm not sure.

The issue is debated in many European countries, inbcluding France. I suppose Marijuana will be tolerated in France next time a left-wing government comes to power.

I don't know how it works internationally, but it's not the case in the EU. Plenty of Europeans go to the Netherlands to buy and smoke pot. You won't have any problem with it while in the Netherlands, but if you get caught with a cargo of weed when you come back to your country, your domestic police roasts you.

I really think that what you said isn't true, because it's extremely unwieldly. For example, homosexuality is banned in Senegal. Do you think the San Francisco police would punish any Senegalese tourist that steps over the gay line?

The Law he is referring to might just be within the EU, although, as an American, I wouldn't know...

I have heard rumors (although haven't checked) that it is legal to use marijuana in Alaska, however, it is illegal to buy or sell it...very strange...

Here in Cali, the police kinda just look the other way at it...

In the UK it's been reduced from a Class B to a Class C drug, which is the same as most prescription medicines (without a prescription). It's still illegal but the police will mostly let possession of small amounts for personal consumption slide without any charges. The could still charge you if they wanted though.

switzerland has consumption problems. the legal drinking age for beer and wine is 16, but 80% of 15 year olds say they have drank within the last month. that is one of the highest rates in europe.

we also smoke a lot of weed. over half of 16 year olds have, and 20% of 13 year olds have. last year, some 15 politicians in the canton of berne admitted that they smoke weed regularly.

You can ggrow weed/hemp, but its not legal in switzerland to consume to get high. you can still sell it has industrial stuff, or for scents, or decoration (also, enforcement depeds on the canton. in the french part, it is very tight enforcment, and in the german part it is much laxer) there are some runblimgs about attaching cigarettes and alocohol in the drug category and thus having the same law for all of those things.
