The funny thing is that to a good deal of the people who vote for that party, merely using terms as Danish, Dane and Denmark in a conversation is seen as a grave, racist insult.

Their "grassroots" supporters have instigated numerous nightly attacks, using Molotov cocktails, against such fierce targets as Danish Campists' Union, Danish Egg Exporters' Association, Danish Holidaymakers and so on, issuing statements to the effect that they want to rid society of all references to such racist labels.

Oh, to think what they could accomplish if they got themselves half a brain.

She's the one who invited and gave an entry pass to Christiansborg Palace to the people who physically attacked the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister two years ago.

She's much more dangerous than the other loony, as she has no conscience whatsoever, no regard for people with a different point of view than her own.

Amazingly enough she was never charged with anything - went on to triple her number of personal votes.

Do you have socialists that don't indulge in political violence?

Most socialists here are pretty peaceful, but those not are in for approx 90 % of what political violence we have.

The socialist politicians are a little vauge commenting this - they condemn it but "understand the reasons". They are more clear when it comes to rightwing violence - they say the same but omits the understandig part.

Sure, they're in the Socialist People's Party (SF), who has around double the number of votes as Enhedslisten, ~6% = 11 seats, the other loonies have 6 seats.

SF actually do make some worthwhile points, politically, from time to time. And they can on occasion be counted on for broader political consensus-building, so they actually get to influence things a little, unlike the others.

Ah yes, I remember Pernille Fahm now.

Yes, Pernille Frahm is their elected MEP. She belongs to the "leftist" faction of the party, and she's a skeptic towards EU, which is a divisive issue within the party.

There are definitely two distinct "blocks" in SF, one an old-fashioned Socialist one, and one more moderate who's not revolutionary in the slightest. It used to be thought that the latter was the strongest, but they just elected a new party leader (first time in 15 years) whom I would characterize as leaning towards the "old-fashioned" group, but he's still newly elected and it remains to be seen what course the party will take.

But really, it's a matter of nuances, even if he turns out to be deviating from the line of his predecessor, I don't see it turning the entire party around. SF is very much a participating party in Danish parliamentary politics, I don't see that changing - unless they're further dramatically decimated in terms of voter backing (they've been steadily losing seats in the last 5-6 elections).

Certainly not, they are responsible politicians, but they "understand" why they do it.

I can understand why people do a lot of crazy ****. But that doesn´t mean I support it.

Where did the notion that understanding implies sympathy come from?

I mean, I understand why America Vera-Zavala wishes the Soviets were still around (viz. they kept half the world outside the US orbit). This doesn't make me like her any better; it makes me think she's got crazy priorities.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

Surely, if they were oppressed because of race, belief, social heritage etc; denied education; didn't have a reasonable chance to get a decent life, I too could understand them, but that is not the case. It is political reasons that are behind this - capitalism is evil and "we know better" attitudes.
