Is the US plagued by systematic child-rapes?
Are your dumbass kids being sexually active in an AIDS-infested environment?

In the US, you have very anecdotal occurences of such things. In South Africa, it's the ordinary. With 1/10 of the youth believing they can cure AIDS by having sex with a virgin, I don't see how the **** can ever end, except for the discovery of a vaccine.
I can't say what thought they have. But we do have over 20% percent of our population who refuses to use condoms. americans are very ignorant.

What a strange slip-up in an article on such a grave subject.
is it a slip up? or is the article inheritantly biased.

I'm sorry this looks so insensitive.

It's gotten to the point I can't believe anything I read over the internet anymore.

I blame it all on Faded Glory.

          (Did not read beyond that.)
The whole article is like that. It can't spend as much time on this attitude as it deserves, because the article is a heap of monstrosities that get more and more frightening.

There's a difference 'tween being biased and believing that pregnancy is a disease. I doubt anyone crazy enough to accept the later notion can write grammatical English.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

I just thought the article looked to be feministly biased. And some feminists do believe pregnancy is a disease.

Not that I have anything against feminists. I do support most feminist policies and do champion equal rights for women. I just don't want them to ignore the worsening problem we have in the united states. The feminists made such great progress in the 60's and 70's, and the rap culture has reversed nearly all of it. Women are back to being viewed as sluts and whores. Tragic.

It depends on how this survey was taken. I find kids lie on suveys all the time. They do in the U.S.

I remember girls talking in junior high school. Every single one of them denied being a virgin, when I'm certain every single one was a virgin.

And kids in junior high school would all say they did drugs so they'd look cool.
I knew girls in junior highschool who were pregnant..

and a number who said they wanted to be whores..

come to think of it, my sister was hacing sex with her boyfreind in 8th..

The average age for a person to lose their virginity in the USA is 17. This number makes perfect sense to me--I can honestly say by age 17 half the people I knew personally enough to share that kind of thing with had sex.

Is that a huge shocker? I'm surprised growing up in NV you think it's untrue. Although I guess those prostitutes ask for ID...

In foreign countries with generic drugs the price could be $10/month.

Still a lot of money but considerably less than $300. And it's not our problem now but it could become a problem if such attitudes spread.

Gibsie - if you have a GF taking pills and she won't let you know what they are, evaluate your relationship and where you want it to go. People who use condoms do get AIDS, they just reduce the chances. If you are at all serious, sit down and explain your concerns. If she still won't let you see them, then you may wish to reevaluate what you are doing. My standing smart-a** remark about statements with silly exceptions is "She be really hot to go to bed with except that she has AIDS." Hopefully that isn't your case.

One of the problems you are seeing here is a breakdown of tribal cultures while at the same time the national justice system is not sufficiently grown to handle the situation. In most tribal cultures, raping a girl will get you killed by her family. The tribe of the young man engaged in/considering such actions will largely force him into certain behaviours, unless of course the girl's family/tribe/clan is an enemy, in which case those behaviors may be lauded.

Still, my wife and I don't mess around, we're a biological closed loop. It's not our problem whether such attitudes spread or not. Most people are aware of AIDS, yet they behave like they do anyway. I say, that's their choice, if it kills em, well too bad for them. We need to put more money into AIDS education, and help rape victims and the like, but for 99%...They shouldn't have done what they did, they knew the risks, I shouldn't pay the price.

I'm a diabetic and I need to pay my own insulin or die. I didn't do anything to get diabetes, yet I'm to get taxed to pay for AIDS victims medicine? People who, for the most part, brought it on themselves?

                              I got my own problems...

shocker as in too young, or too old? I'm not sure what you are asking.

                                That number sounds right.

But when you hear kids talk, every 13 year old claims they aren't a virgin. And they vote falsely in all those school polls as well.
