        Yeah, I've allways preferred shrapnel-wounds.
I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"

Shrapnel wounds tend to be more treatable, actually

Flechettes penetrate deeply and then often fragment or bend

And btw IMO this thing is a waste of resources because when the terrorists learn about it they simply will avoid these hard-to-reach places.

This will make it easier to kill the other guys, and that will save our guys lives. If I'm in the field, I'd rather have one than not.

It's really simple. The sarge tells you to kill that guy behind that rock. Well, you can either run your silly ass over there, likely getting killed on the way, or you can take your X-whatever gun, and shoot him without getting off your belly.

                        You decide, smartass.*

*Just added to give it the 'drill sarge' kinda feel.

                        Zkrib, that's beautiful.

How about simply having an auto rotating tripod mounted launcher that would have a large clip of ammo attached to it, and that would be placed slightly behind a squad and launch this ammo on command given by laser pointers.

So, do any of these superguns that get press from time to time actually, you know, get deployed at some point?

In Vietnam the first night vision scoped weapons got delivered under security escort straight to the actual troops that needed them. Just so they didn't end up on a politicians wall or a general's private collection, or worse.
