Classical Music Question

Yesterday I saw the movie "Equilibrium". There is the scene when the cleric finds a record of Beethoven, puts it on the player (gramophone?) and when the music begins he starts crying because it touches him emotionally.

Can somebody tell me which piece of Beethoven that was? I'm unfortunately not familiar with his works.....

No, they had it on tv here this weekend, I taped it and watched it yesterday No access to Israeli tv.....
