  • Recommend me a British broadband supplier

A couple of weeks ago, the last holder of the duchess o' york title and I decided to split up. There wasn't a huge row, or any extracurricular Ted Striking involved (just as well, because we're still sharing the flat but she's just moved into the other bedroom). So I finally got my butt in gear, and sorted out a new flat for myself yesterday. It has a handily-accessible phone point, but I really need to put something in there so I can post at 'poly every evening and don't ever need to go out (except to work ). Who is reliable, and more importantly, cheap?
I have no interest in downloading things, but may well have my arm twisted to play games on-line so how much bang will I need for my buck, and can I get the same amount of bang for a mere 50c?
Also, and this is an equally big question, am I now honour-bound to return the favour of last year, and invite Jamski and Spike along once I've got myself settled into my new flat?

You never invite any other London Apolytoners along, nor get involved with our little drinkies

Zen Internet. Actually, they're not cheap, but very reliable.

            Welcome to the 21st century!

I use plus.net and they are reliable.

Best advice though is to spend a few hours trawling through the forums at dslguide.org, and that will alert you to any problems people are having with their ISPs.

That's because I live in Leeds!
Spike was kind enough to put Jam and I up in his flat when we came down last August, so I was wondering whether I could return the favour. And to be honest, I doubt that the new flat would fit any more people in. You could always ask Stewart if you want drinkies in Leeds....

I was kidding, I just missed the smiley at the end. It did remind me though, we've not had any proper Poly meetings apart from the usuals, and we really must have something this summer. I am sure Ramo was supposed to be coming over which seems excuse enough for me

                  You could try f2s

You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

Never met up with Stew then?

I've never had any problems with PlusNet. BT are putting the broadband into my new flat, but then that's because I'm not paying for it.

Yeah, and great support. But definitely not cheap.

I've never had any bother with BT, which is who I am using at the moment...but I don't know how this depends on location.

Heck I've never had issues with NTL, so it's all horses for courses etc i guess.

I could be dragged down to the big smoke (no, noyt Middlesbrough) again on August bank holiday weekend this year if enough people will be around to make it worthwhile (and allow me to crash at their house).

Now I'm off to look at the comparison site Spike suggested.
