About a week ago on the Discovery channel, it showed a British man driving his tank onto a ferry, crossing the English Channel, and going into France...he was licensed of course...

Later in the show, that same man and many others played a reinactment of a WWII battle with their own tanks and artillery...another American that supplies working tanks for Hollywood owns numerous soviet tanks, most of them more powerful than the current American light tanks...he also owned a cruise missile...he disarmed it, of course, but it is still in usable condition if he ever wanted to use it...

So, how much do you know about your own nation?

The fact is, the people hired to provide working tanks for Hollywood have a larger "army" than some nations...obviously, not any powerful nations or ones that anybody has heard of, but still...

Also, the United States dedicates a significant part of its military to its prized navy and air force...I'm sorry, but when you want to control land and fight resistance, it don't matter how many planes and boats you got, it's good ol' infantry that do that...and even if the entire U.S. military, all 2 milliion of them, were part of the army, including the airmen and seamen, they'd still have to fight almost 300 million angry Americans, a good number of them owning a weapon, and of course, many owning multiple weapons...

Currently a big part of the US military is overseas, and a fast-moving uprising could work by winning before the army can make it back from the Middle East.

I am unaware of any popular government that has been overthrown by revolution (though many have been overthrown by mercenaries or their own militaries).

Of course, the other way the U.S. government could be overthrown is if the military decides to take over. Despite the military's current affection for civilian government (at least within the U.S.), things can change. No one expected a coup d'etat in Chile after 50 years of democracy, but it happened.

Well then, we're set, since only about half the country thinks of "these people" as something other than crackpot losers.

And these people need to trancend from being overeducated students trying to feel important/get laid to people who actually experaince said problems and have a real greivance.

Only a minority of activists are students. Your ignorance is showing again.

Whether or not there will be violence is up to the capitalists. In other words, there will be violence.

This is great. Dear capitalist, we are going to take away all your property, all your political power and franchise, take away your job, put a few of your family members and probobly yourself in a gulag, and madate you you at least say you like it. And if you say no and we come to take it from you by force, if you fight back it is you who is the cause of violence.

You do love to put words in people's mouths, don't you. Maybe you'd have more fun debating by yourself. I suggest setting up your own fourm where you can be as much of an ass as you like, and invent everyone ele's arguments for them, then you can knock down all your little strawmen and whackoff and think of yourself as a master debater.

Who said anything about shipping people off to gulags? Who said anything about taking things by force?

I always find it funny that those who are strong advocates of harsh sentencing, strong law and order, and always take the side of the police and military in the U.S., then go on to talk about how bad it is for other countries to do the same. There's a word for people like you, hypocrites.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

as I said, none of these vehicles have weapons on them. Yes I know lots of people have ww2 vintage planes. It's quite a hobby in my country.

Those who do possess actual weapons, the barrells are filled with concrete to render them inoperable before they are sold to the public or put in parks etc.

How hard would it be to simply put on a new barrel or remove the concrete though?

Actually now that you've posted, it just reminds me that all we'd need are a lot of spearmen.

You know, i've given this topic a GREAT deal of thought. *waits for the black hawks to descend* lol.

One thing to consider, while a minority of Americans own gun, enough Americans own MULTIPLE firearms, to PROBOABLY arm every American, or at least every American willing to fight.

In reality it comes down to numbers.... 2 million infantry can't take down 20,000,000 militia men-as stated above.

If there was a revolution at home how long do you think it would take them to bring those back here? And there are plenty of planes and ships. Militia wouldn't fare well against daisy cutters.

Modern armies require huge amounts of material to function and aren't easy to move. The buildup of troops for Desert Storm took a few months.

Besides, one of the first targets for a revolution would be ports and airports. With the constant round of base closings, US mainland military forces are concentrated within a handful of locations.

Which would therefore be relatively easy to defend.

                              ships are useless in Kansas.

most of the United states in inland, not on the water.

tanks and planes are another story, however.

Why would anyone care about Kansas?

Ships are quite useful in important places, like New York
