  • Artistic Justice, or My Stupid State Part X

There is an art show here in Broward County (Ft. Lauderdale), FL called Controversy, i.e., it's a bunch of controversial art. One of the pieces showed Shrubya getting reamed over a barrel of oil. Another artist in the show decided it was in poor taste and complained to have it removed . . . and it was.

What part of Controversy didn't he understand. Anyway, he took it to the county, and they decided to look into it, which is why the gallery decided to remove the peice.

Well, the complaining artist had submitted a piece with Pope Bennedict XIV (IIRC) in front of a bunch of Nazi symbols. So now, the local Catholic anti-defamation group is out to have his work removed. Turn about is fair play.

Not having seen either piece, I think they are both rather crass, but I don't like the idea of them being forced out of the show.

    I think it's both.

Your state, Florida, is stupid anyway.

As far as having turnabout happen,

And I know it's not a question, just a statement. But I wanted to make sure that the point of Florida being a stupid state was underscored.

Given that they are being shown through an art guild, chances are that they're both even worse than they sound.
