The level of technology needed to mine Titan would probably allow the resources to be synthesised more cheaply on Earth.
I don't know about that, seems like both options would need a significant increase in technology... and, taking the space route is just soooooo much kewler.

jahper, like i said i've got nothing against science, but i agree with bfg that money could be better spent.

Still, C0ckney, how many of those problems would really change if we throw money at them?

Now the yanks know how I feel when they have the cheek to me how great our Royal family is. Easy to say when you arn't paying for it yourself!

It's karma, I hate paying for the upkeep of a bunch of German inbreds, but I'm getting all the space stuff, which I love, for free.

MrFun, I was fortunate enough to have been able to attend college to broaden my horizons. Why dont we use this space program money to broaden the horizons of the indigent children of our country in the same way?
We piss away more in Federal deficits in three days than the NASA budget for a year, let alone the amount allocated to deep space mission programs.

How broad would your horizons have been if it hadn't been for government support of various technology ventures in the past several centuries?

And school funding is a state issue, the Feds should have nothing to do with it.

yep, I gathered that by your sig,! I don't want you to think I'm not proud to be English, I'd just sooner be proud to be English AND live in a republic!

At least NASA isn't costing you like the spongers are costing me!! I might vote with my tax and move to America (I'd need to find a English enclave, yanks tend to tend wear me out after a while with their mindless optimism!!! )

I should point out that space science research led directly to the computers we are using to host and post on this site.

If you'll pay 122p and I'll send my 61p to NASA (I'll mark the envelope "manned mission to Alpha Centauri").

Money can be spent on better things than war, but without war we wouldn't have jet-planes as advaced, railways as advanced, motorways as advanced, etc.

What appears to be a short-term useless thing is actually a long-term boom. Much technology taken out of the space-programme is apparent in our everyday lives.
