  • Any accurate legal drama TV shows out there?

    ... well?

I guess "Law & Order" is closest, but I watched an episode lately and I was shocked by the amount of leading questions asked by the Prosecution to their own witnesses.

Also I believe that one episode involved a case where someone blurted out something before Miranda rights were read (or he was deaf and couldn't hear them) and they had to get around it.... even though the law says Miranda doesn't apply to a spontaneous statement.

Any legal drama on TV that gets all the particulars right? I guess that's one of the problems with law school, you see errors in every show on the tube .

Boston Legal, which took over the spot previoulsy occupied by The Practice, is really good.
      William Shatner is insane.
I don't know how "accurate" you want, since it would be hard to fictionalize things people do.

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

I know what you mean. I have the same problem when I watch 24. Not accurate, not accurate at all. We don't deal with terrorists that way...

The same is true with any techie/computer tv show/movie.

Rules are always bent for entertainment value.

I suggest you learn law from another resource than TV shows.

Same goes for cooking sitcoms, except for "Chef" which was absolutely true to form.

I don't watch any legal shows. I gave up on them long ago.

L.A. Law was good while it was still on. Okay, the cases got to court blazingly fast and everyone was having lots of sex -- so that part wasn't accurate. And closing statements were brief, to the point and persuasive, so that part to was off. But other than that, it was prettty good.

What was that Glenn Close movie? Jagged Edge? I think that was it. It's nice that she questioned the witnesses from across the courtroom instead of nose-to-nose. While the nose-to-nose method makes for a great "two shot" for the camera, the jury can't hear what's going on, so no one in real life does it.

                              no

besides, all the fun action is on the defense, not the prosecution, and civilians don't much like to see the "bad" guy get away. Not good for tv.
