yup, just as I thought, most 'anti-chav' social commentary comes from deep-rooted feelings of social superiority, and general ****er snobbery which is one can expect to be rampant in a country with such a rich class-division country such as great britain.

I treat www.chavscum.co.uk as it should be treated: an example of the prevailing sentiment against these people in the UK. I've seen these remarks made by Britons here on the boards, and they pretty much form a straight line with the website. That's all I am saying.

Obviously things like happy slapping etc. are despicable - and it actually shows the things that are wrong with this subculture ( that it doesn't stop it but promote it ) - but most claims are basically rubbish.

yeah, well, to be honest, most counter-cultures, or even subcultures have that as a gimmick. The chavs won't be the first or the last. It seems that their norms and values as a subculture beat many other subcultures or cultural ghettos.

I wouldn't even bother calling it a subculture because there is no culture involved other than emulating their mates with their gawdy sportswear and their 'bling bling'. We are not talking about all youths but a particular subsection of them who are troublecausing, no good little wretches...why is it, time and time again, that these kids who cause the problem all look the damn same? Chavs or charvs as they're called in newcastle are the biggest pain in the arse since that bull in the reasons to stay sober thread.
Its a growing discontent at having little to do (because they're generally too fat or with tarred up lungs to do anything requiring effort) and needing an identity so they join every other clone on the street corner.
God i'm 21, had my fun rough days getting into fights at school and generally being the teachers anti-christ but i drew the line waaaayyy before going out and actually mugging pensioners, developing drug habits/smoking/drinking and having sex at the age of 12. What the hell is wrong with just playing football ?

One of the more annoying things about them is that our damn liberal society totally panders to them, oh you can't call them thugs, they've had troubled childhoods. Don't call police, get social services to take them on holiday. They've torched your car ? tough they're too young to jail. State benefits for having no job, a drug habit and 4 kids by the age of 17 etc etc Urgh it all adds up to putting their confidence and arrogance through the roof. Then you know for a fact that even when they're half your height and threatening you with their usual "hoow man u beta giz a tab or ill knife ya" when you've told them you don't smoke as soon as he/she (yes the girls are just as bad, i've had no qualms about hitting a few because i really don't see any difference between them and the boys bar 2 balls and a penis) starts hitting you and you've no choice to hit them back then you're the one in trouble because of their age, despite the fact they're so fat they're usually bigger then you!
Even the kids i grew up friends with who joined in with this fashion seem to have went from actually being able to count to the biggest idiots about, their only real use is the fact you can mock their stupidity and if somebody threatens you they'll jump in and have an arguement on the other kids level ie, consisting of swearing every 1.5 words.

, especially if you are speaking in the aesthetical sense. Their ethics might be less than questionable, but it never bothered us calling other ways of life "cultures".

Truth is, that both chavs and their equivalents from other countries and ethnicities are on in the majority of the cases non-criminal people that live in a bad subculture.

Majority yes. There a few charvs who aren't violent, but things like low IQ and lack of identity are almost total across the board. I hate statements like this aswell, it's so blindingly obvious that 100% of them aren't, just like not all nazis were evil, but everyone (ok not TOTALLY everyone) agrees that overall the regime was evil.
