Yeah, I'd say. 1/2 kilo of beef is a huge amount.

I'm ~6ft and 180lbs or so. I eat whatever I want and as much as I want, and never gain weight so far. I used to weight less(~160?) when I in better shape. I was in really good shape though.

        Today I had -

        1 cookie(200 cal?)
        1 ramen noodle(400 cal?)
        1 large chicken breast(600 cal?)
1 large bowl of raisin bran with %1 milk which had to be 2-3x serving size(500-700 cal?)
multiple glasses of water probably 32oz so far

I'll eat at least another 500-1000 calories today. Probably a salad and/or some fruit. One thing I am fairly good on is getting lots of fiber. I actually like foods high in fiber for some reason, they just taste better to me. I haven't kept track of what I eat, but I'd bet it averages around 3000 calories.

Eating just one meal a day is decidedly unhealthy.

6'5" and about 220lbs. I eat between 2500 and 4500kcal a day mostly in carbs and protein. i ramp it up when training ramps up. I row for 2-3 hours a day during internse periods at what that site would call vigorous to extremely vigorous intensity. 2hrs of medium vigorous is 1700kcal, so I need to eat a shedload to maintain my weight and activity patterns.

In fact looking at that site that got linked i need to eat over 5000kcal to keep balanced if i am on my usualy training regime. I think it overestimates stuff a slight bit.

I eat a little under 2000 calories per day I think. Mostly it depends whether I have a packet of biscuits open or not...

Lay off the bananas. More than one a day is excessive. They are very high in sugar, so are therefore fattening.

A good idea is to start eating 5 times a day instead of 3, just eating much smaller amounts. The more regular eating will keep your metabolism going and provide the calories you need more evenly. It will also prevent big spikes in blood sugar.

                  Yesterday, I ate:

1/4 cup cottage cheese and some vegetarian sausage patties for breakfast (Gardenburger brand--yummy!) @ 7:00 AM

                  A hard-boiled egg @ about 9:30 AM

For lunch, a salad. But it was a largish one--lots of protein on it, and fats from the dressing (but good fats). Also fiber from broccoli and celery and other veggies. 12:30 PM

Snacked on mozzarella string cheese about 3:30 PM.

After the gym, I had dinner at about 7:00 PM. Lots of protein (turkey--my vegetarian days are over), as one should do after a workout. Also had some whole grain bread and some of that laughing cow spreadable cheese.

I'm 5'8" and 155 lbs, and definitely have decent muscle mass in the arms, chest and back. My weight has been fairly consistent for the past 4-5 years.

No one will gain weight eating Banana's only. An entire Banana maybe has 100 Calories. That's not breaking the bank.

As for 16 oz of beef (half a kilo), that's two or three day's worth of proteins.

It may sound like people have the caloric count fine, but in terms of overall balanced nutrition we have general issues.

A medium-sized banana has 25g of sugar. So 4 bananas a day would be over 100g of sugar alone.

                          and

So yes, a Banana has 100 Calories.

That, again, won't make you fat. Even four of them in a day.

Of course, you have to watch how many other calories you will have.

GePap: The days when calories were the only consideration are long gone.

Fruits like bananas that are high in sugar but don't have fiber (like an apple) are rated high on the glycemic index. So when eaten, they cause a big spike in blood sugar levels. Such spikes wreak havoc on metabolism and prompt the body to store fat more.

That being said, they're an excellend source of potassium.

                              nostromo: I like food a lot. I don't feel I'm deprived.

On Saturdays, I usually do a big breakfast: 3 eggs, chicken or turkey sausage, whole wheat toast. Then I hit the gym for a couple hours. And afterwards, it's protein I need...and what better way to get a lot of protein than with a big plate of buffalo wings?

I also tried to cut down on salt. We ingest way too much salt each day, and that can cause diabetes. But salt is everywhere, and in large quantities too. I bought some low salt V8 vegetable juice. Its quite awful...
