I can get paid more for hitting or throwing a ball than a doctor, teacher, etc...
Tell that to those who play in the minors.

Here at the Shady Lady ranch we cater to the working man .
While others cater to the high rollers we feel it is about time
that some one should provide great service for the average working man.
Menu Prices
Basic Service Menu Prices
20 minutes 100.00
More Then Basic Service Prices
One hour $300.00
Two hours $500.00
In comparison, my general doctor makes about 25€ per 20 minutes, which isn't too shabby. Specialist doctors (7-9 years of uni) make about 40€ per 20 minutes.
Even though doctors are better paid in the US than in France, I don't think most of your doctors will get 100$ per 20 minutes.
And I'm not even speaking about noble yet underpaid jobs, like doing the dishes (6$ an hour, Space05us' salary)
F**k, not only do f**king whores make more than I do, but so do the f**king Frenchies! F**king Medicaid and Medicare! I don't know why the f**king Republicans pat themselves on the back over abolishing salvery. Their f**king government is still making f**king slaves out of docs too decent to toss the elderly and the poor out into the street. (...or into my clinic as the case may be.)

Maybe you shouldn't treat poor people, but should become a doctor for the wealthy. For what it's worth, I think you're a good man.

Well, my figures may be skewed, because those are the price per consultation, and as a healthy young man, my consultations never last more than 20 minutes (10 minutes are more frequent actually). A consulation might last longer for elderly people.
Besides, these are the prices I pay directly to the doctor. Pretty much all doctors here are independant, and this payment includes all fees that the doctor incurs for his job (like the rent and maintenace of his cabinet, or the payment of the secretary if he has one)

Are there people who get more than doctors and teachers for hitting or throwing a ball?
Because very, very few ball players make serious money.

But I agree with the rest... And I see selfishness has already been insinuated by a resident commie.

Actually, our medical prices are regulated too, because medical expanses are publicly paid for. And for years, the government kept the very same prices, despite the inflation.
The doctors rebelled a few years ago, and got a significant raise, as well as the right to charge their patients above the regulated price (fortunately, we have many decent doctors who don't overcharge, or only overcharge one or 2€ above the regulated price)
Edit: And I was wrong about the specialists (shows how much I go see them ), they're paid 23€ per consultation (vs. 20€ for a normal generalist consultation, and 26€ for a "deep consultation", whatever it means), save for the children-docs (28€) and the psychiatrists (34€)

Dr. Strangelove, you seem to be underpaid, or do you subtract malpractice insurance off the top? It seems to me that many doctors here in Kalifornia are making around $300-$500k per year net. That works out to quite a bit per hour.
However, in Commie-land, only whores and party members make that kind of money as doctors get paid regulated rates for the good of society.
That's one of the points of communism, the ability to develop yourself more fully and experience the variety that life has to offer, instead of focusing on being a CPA.

In capitalism, an average prostitute makes much, much more money than a house cleaner, which is a much more noble work. It might be time to go back to the drawing board in re: to your ideology, John.
I'm fine with it . Supply and demand. If some horny desparate man is willing to pay a small fortune to get someone to fake some moans and groans, I'm just fine with that and actually applaud the redistribution of wealth.

True, but there will always be geeks who like to focus on things, and many skills will become obsolete. If there's no money, then what use is an accountant, for example? And most people take pride in their jobs regardless, and will focus on learning how to do it well, even if they later go do something else.

My problem with the "treat everyone the same as if they are a unit of production is twofold"
1. Some jobs are harder than others and will be perceived as less desirable. How is it decided who does them?
2. People's abilities vary wildly. If I am great at what I do do I get more time off if I meet the average production of other workers in half the time.
As for the pride in the job thing, it may be true of people as no one wants to be regarded badly. BUT-- I worked in government assessing tax returns. They had a quota system where you had to average a certain number per hour. Within three weeks I was meeting quota. The 20 year employees had the same quota and also just met it every week. There was no incentive to excell so nobody excelled. I'm betting that would be the typical reaction
