With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Yeah, the Pathfinders are the best units in the game.

Get the expansion. Pathfinders + Fire Bases = insane pwnage.

(Fire Bases shoot decent-ranged arty shells that are good against infantry and particularly tanks. They can also accomodate 4 infantry that shoot out.)

Stealth units are over-rated in that game: Too easily detected.

                    Huh? Where are you looking?

Protesters killed a number of soldiers, I think a couple dozen. Most were burned or beaten to death.

Forget about students at T Square, most of the killing happened actually on the streets leading to it, where Beijing residents had erected barricades of overturned buses and trucks. When the army reached the barricades, they opened fire on the civilians manning them. Some of the citizens were armed, but mostly with things like sticks, kitchen knives, molotov cocktails, and the like. No match for AK47 fire, but they did manage to kill some soldiers (who the CCP later declared to be "heros").

As for the students, most were peacefully evacuated from the square after brokering an agreement with the army.

The number of deaths is hard to calculate because many died later, of gunshot wounds, in their homes (hospitals were too dangerous) and in later nation-wide round-ups by various gov't intelligence agencies. These figures will probably remain secret as long as the CCP controls China.

"6.4 Event" (that's how we* call it, not some silly sensationalistic "Tiannanmen Massacre") was started as an anti-corruption movement, not blah freedom blah.

"Freedom" is completely debased nowadays that it means about as much as "synergy." However it still sounds good and is a nice stick to bash other people's heads.

Wow! I've never seen a Chinese person open with the "everyone knows that" defense. They usually save that for when they've been beaten a few times.

Sorry to just get around to answering this, but I wanted to correct a little error of omission.

What UR didn't mention to you was that the Chinese refering to the event as "6-4" has nothing to do with a lack of sensationalism, it's just a Chinese linguistic convention. Other similar famous days or events are routinely referred to in the "#-#" format. The student demonstrations of the May Fourth Movement are "5-4" The day mourners defied gov't wishes to remember Zhou Enlai: "4-5". "May Day" is "5-1". It's a naming convention, not a statement.

Well, at least we are no longer debating whether or not anyone was actually killed on "6-4".

Go back and watch some of the video. One of the APC's had a molotov cocktail thrown at it (this was before the massacre).

I don't think anyone denied that. It was whether anyone died in Tienamen Square itself. As you note, all the dying occured elswhere. Hence, Tianamen Square Massacre is a bit of a misnomer, kinda like the Battle of Bunker Hill.
