  • Video card upgrade. PCI-E, AGP and compatibility issues

    I curently have K7-Triton Motherboard. I want to upgrade my MX440 videocard to Geforce 6600 256MB. My Mboard is AGPx8. Is there any way to plug PCI-E videocard into my motherboard?
    money sqrt evil;
    My literacy level are appalling.

    Not that I know of, you can use a 'bridge' to do it the other way around.

        I heard about Albatron PCI-E to AGP bridge but never heard about AGP to PCI-E bridge. Can somebody give me a link?

          No, you need a new motherboard

            Note to self: Check compatiblity with motherboard before ordering a videocard so that I can play Thief 3 on my desktop. Then if all else fails, use the 'format c:' command.

                      Best way to do it mate, buy year old stuff secondhand from the ubergeeks who are upgrading. Let the nerds pay over the top for the R&D

                        Yup, although I payed a little too much but I missed too often on previous occasions.

                        125€ for a three month old card isn't that bad though, in the cheapest shop I know here, it sells at 170€.

                          And look what it was 12 months ago? people who spend a fortune trying to get that last 5% FPS out of the latest graphics cards are muppets. (IMHO)

                            Not enough hardcore freaks who upgrade their computers monthly. It's hard to find used in Israel.

                              Why would you want to connect the latest graphics card to a K7? Seems... lopsided.
