Computer performance

I just finished reinstalling WinXP last night, and now I have only installed DirectX 9.0c, the newest drivers to my graphics card, sound card drivers, Firefox and 3DMark 03/05

My HW is this:
GeForce FX 5900 GT
Pentium 4 2.4 GHz
Motherboard: Asus P4S8X
HD: Hitachi DeskStar 7K250 160 GB / 7200 rpm / 8 MB / ATA-100 / 8.5 ms

My 3DMark scores is this:

2003: 4870
2005: 1028

Is this what to be expected from this system or should it be higher?

You should have paid an additional 40 USD to get a GeForce 6800.

The card is old. IIRC the price for a better card was much higher back then
