Ju-On 2, the Korean film on which The Grudge is based, is said to be far superior, and it's widely available at Blockbusters and other rental stores. Haven't seen it yet, but it's on my list.

oh, the Grudge...

I watched it in the theaters with three ferinds

one screamed numerous times, one screamed and was hyperventilating most of the movie, and one hid behind his hands and didn't watch most of it (and left before the end because he was too scared)...

so I would say that yes, it is a decent horror movie

I thought it was ludicrous, but that's because I had been immunized to Shimizu's schtick after seeing Ringu, The Ring, Ju-On, etc. Once you realize that he just rehashes the same old crap over and over again, it gets stale.

It takes a lot for a movie to get to me. Also, Dolores was watching too and I could tell she was edgy. She kept asking questions I couldn't answer, like I wrote the script.

Not that there was much script, it was all imagery and freaky film techniques. Excellent use of a kitty cat and a kid... Wouldn't think someone could make a horror flick outa that, but it works.
