sooo wheres a cheap but sort of safe part of town?
and hows the public transportation situation there?
he's a musician and will be looking to hook up with
a band.

any thoughts..... you chicago folks...

Cheap and safe aren't really located in the same areas, unfortunately. You chose one or the other. If you keep your head about you, you can do fine in a transitional neighborhood, like Logan Square.

Stay away from Rogers Park. Too many hippies and gangsters.

I recommend using a company like The Apartment People to find a place.

he gets recognized quite often when we are out around here..
the local fans of the last band he was in .....
they did some tours all over the states and played in chicago a couple of times...

Most neighbourhoods looks OK and LIVEABLE but when you actually live a month or two, the story might be different. So I suggest doing some research first
