  • Connecticut OKs $100M for stem cell research

HARTFORD, Conn. -- A multi million dollar stem cell research plan is headed to the Connecticut governor's desk.
The state House of Representatives has approved a ten-year, $100 million plan. The Connecticut Senate has already approved the measure and Governor Jodi Rell says she will sign it.

Connecticut is hoping to compete with other states in the research arena. Neighboring Massachusetts has a new law -- enacted after state lawmakers overturned a gubernatorial veto with the same goal in mind.

California is investing $3 billion toward stem cell research and New Jersey is considering a $380 million investment.

Yay for the forward advancement of medical technology!

Cool. Glad to see more of the state and local branches taking their own initiatives against some of Bush's policies.

What is so shocking about a Governor's veto?

Trying to confuse stem cell research with embryonic stem cell research.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. embryonic stem cell research is a subset of stem cell research.

It's an obvious attempt at a political sleight of hand.
