  • Horse's first house is for sale

It's only a little cottage but 2 of our children were born there and it was our first family home so when we saw it was open for inspection we went down and had a look.

I'm glad we did that because I felt good afterwards, mainly because as the children told their stories I realised I was there - I wasn't an absent Dad - I was part of it all, part of their lives and happy memories. I felt sort of proud. I felt I made the right decision to just hang out with them in that little house. Their stories were all like, "Hey dad, remember when we...."- it was the "we" I liked, just everyday things like walking to the shops down the hill, or to the little park at the end of the street.

The place I liked to sit and read the paper listening to sports on the radio on a Saturday afternoon, the tree out the front I trimmed, the front door frame I painted, the shed I built, the old stove, all still there, all bringing back really happy memories.

We lived there for about 5 years from Nov 95 to some time after 2000.

        The "Covered Verandah" rules.

I want to go outside and cook up some steaks and sit in the rocking chair all day and not do a damn thing.

Hello CW The agent told us they want something above $260,000. I doubt they'll get that, more like $230,000.

My childhood home was for sale a few years back, so the folks and I and the wife went for a look and to pay a visit to the various pet graves.

My brother used to have this thing for vintage cars and my mother made him some curtains with vintage car material (yes, there is such a thing). We'd moved out 15 years before, but the car curtains were still there and in good shape.

Ah, I see. I'd seen the sales history of your house, which are aged, but not for the rest of the street. Not that I'm an expert but I think your assessment is more realistic than that of the agent.

I'm too lazy to visit my childhood homes seeing as how many there were and how far apart.
