Albert (“Smiler”) Marshall, the last British cavalryman of the first world war, died

Well my fathers paternal grandfather fought in WW1 for the Germans, and a lot of other Danes also did, 'cause of the German occupation of Southern Jutland. That must have been surreal, fighting for a country that conquered you just fifty years earlier.

Sadly I never knew as he died the night I was born
